"WELL READ"

A show of works that visually dramatize touchstone texts, providing a narrow curatorial window onto the vast realm of language-based art. Molly Springfield painstakingly copies by hand a blurred Xerox of Walter Benjamin’s pathbreaking essay “The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction”; Stephanie Brooks presents sheet music for an art song with Freud’s “Beyond the Pleasure Principle” providing lyrics; and Nicholas Knight’s mural diagrams a sentence by Cézanne. With Beth Campbell, Cui Fei, Gabriel Fowler, Vandana Jain, Heidi Neilson, Matt Siber, and Duston Spear.
